Professor Josephine Chow
Coming from the career of a renal nurse, Josephine is a nationally and international recognised leader in health services research, and innovation. She is the Foundation and Inaugural Professor and Chair of the South Western Sydney Nursing and Midwifery Research Alliance at South Western Sydney Local Health District. Throughout her career, she has held a range of senior executive and strategic leadership foundational positions, including Deputy Director of Research (SWSLHD), Director of Strategy and Partnerships (SWSLHD), Co-Director of Liverpool Renal Clinical Trial Centre, Operational Lead for the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre, and Inaugural Executive Director of Operations for the Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE). She is a Winston Churchill Fellow, Chair of the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis Standards and Guidelines Committee, Co-Chair NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation Renal Network, and Founder and Inaugural Chair of The HOME Network, an Australasian collaborative established in 2009 to advance home dialysis as a viable and supported treatment option. She served as an investigator on more than 55 multicentre international clinical trials and holds honorary appointments at four Universities.
Josephine is the Global Co-Principal Investigator for the landmark TEACH-PD Trial. She was awarded NSW Health Staff Member of the Year (2023) and was a finalist for the Federal Health Minister’s Nursing Trailblazer Award (2022) for her pioneering work in consumer-centred, technology-enabled healthcare innovation.
