Fredric Doss
Fredric Doss is the Founder and Director of Grace Medicals and Grace Clinicals, leading the organisations’ vision to improve renal healthcare through innovative medical technologies, specialist dialysis services, clinical education, and healthcare capacity building across New Zealand and the Pacific. With over two decades of academic, clinical, leadership, and advisory experience, he is widely recognised for his contributions to advancing kidney care and strengthening renal services throughout the region.
Fredric recently completed his role as Professional Leader and Dialysis Educator at Health New Zealand, where he was instrumental in establishing and leading education and training programmes for medical staff, nurses, and clinical physiologists. He also provided leadership in policy development, clinical governance, risk management, quality improvement, and paediatric dialysis services, making a significant contribution to the development of New Zealand’s renal workforce and clinical practice.
He is also a Lecturer and Course Coordinator at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, where he contributes to the education and development of future healthcare professionals. He co-supervises PhD research exploring the use of virtual reality interventions to improve psychosocial outcomes for adolescents and young adults undergoing dialysis. Fredric also serves as Principal Investigator for Pig Xenotransplantation at NZeno Ltd, contributing to innovative research in transplantation and regenerative medicine.
Fredric previously served as Chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Renal Dialysis Practice Inc., Board Member of the Clinical Physiologist Registration Board, New Zealand, and President of the Renal Society of Australasia – New Zealand Branch. Through these leadership roles, he contributed to professional standards, clinical governance, workforce development, education, and the advancement of renal practice across New Zealand and Australasia.
Internationally recognised for his expertise, Fredric has served as an Honorary Dialysis Advisor to the National Kidney Foundation of Samoa since 2008, an International Advisor for BONENT, USA, since 2009, and a former Editorial Board Member of the Renal Society of Australasia Journal. He is also a member of the ANZSN Pacific Working Group, supporting the advancement of nephrology education and clinical practice throughout the Pacific region.
Fredric holds multiple postgraduate qualifications, including a Diploma in Dialysis Therapy from India, a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management from Massey University, New Zealand, a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science from the University of Auckland, and a Master of Health Science from the University of Auckland.
Through his leadership of Grace Medicals and Grace Clinicals, together with his continued contributions to education, research, professional development, and international collaboration, Fredric remains committed to improving access to high-quality renal care and advancing patient outcomes across New Zealand, the Pacific, and beyond.
