General and Renal Physician | Health New Zealand Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty, Associate Professor | University of Auckland
Dr Marshall initially trained as a nephrologist in New Zealand, but furthered his training in the United States in the late 1990s. He has wide research interests but the majority of his productivity has focused on the epidemiology and service delivery of home dialysis, and outcomes of acute renal replacement therapy in acute kidney injury. He has been a nephrologist and an academic for more than 20 years, and has held various professional leadership and governance roles at a national level over that time. Most of the last decade, he has been a Director of Medical Affairs (Chronic Renal) for Baxter Healthcare International. Currently, however, he has returned to work in New Zealand to focus on clinical nephrology and research. He has published numerous articles and book chapters in the international literature.
